Sorry, third post for the late night/early morning,

From my recent people watching - not stalking, just observing how people interact and socialize and such - not actually observing the persons themselves, I realize there's this one thing a lot of people can do that I seem to have forgotten how to do.  Or, rather, I refuse to let myself do.

As my interest in linguistics grows, I'm reminded that even with a language, people use different words, slang, and syntax.  I always seem to talk as if I'm writing an essay - and somehow this has become a rather terrible habit of mine.  If you want an example, basically, this is just how I talk in real life probably 80% of the time.   The other 20% of the time is probably when I'm talking to my subordinates.

But as a human being who will constantly be interacting, I need to be aware of how the people around me talk, so as to better connect with them.  It's not necessarily that I sound serious, it's more like... I'm afraid of losing the way I can somewhat sound more intellectual like this - and intellect is something I always strive towards for myself.  More bluntly speaking, sometimes I have to remember not to give people some sort of inferiority complex - or, I have to remember that the way I talk just sounds real tense and academic and not very casually social.

I am working on it, though.  I've been aware for quite a while and I'm just having a hard time.
