Asian Culture

So basically, during the photoshoot on Tuesday, the studio was playing a few old k-pop favorites of mine, particularly a couple of 2NE1's (the above girl band) songs.  Musically speaking, their songs are actually pretty good.  They're actually extremely talented musicians and dancers and are all extremely beautiful.  I mostly stopped listening to them because I felt their songs weren't reflecting their true musical talent - there was just sooo much autotune to appeal to more pop/dance genres, I suppose.

But I really admire them - I really admire their confidence and their passion in what they do.  It definitely shows through things like their music videos and such.  Honestly, though, even though they have been pushed into society's ideal conception of how a lady should look and act and all, I feel like they are still assertive and confident in their music without essentially exploiting their bodies too much, like western music culture tends to do.  And the fact that they are Asian makes them even more awesome.  They're definitely a kind of a source of inspiration for me.  I haven't felt like this towards "my people" for a while, haha.
