le deux mars - la musique

I remember in freshman year literature, Mrs. Otto gave us this creative assignment where one of the prompts was to use a piece of music to analyze a story. Thus, I compared Jay Chou's "Secrets" to Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", which matched up actually very well. The song starts off kind of soft, like the story, and is very blissful like the first moments Romeo and Juliet have with each other. Then, the dramatic part of the song occurs with many sixteenth notes which depict the confusion and chaos that the families of the Montagues and Capulets have with each other. Near the end, there are really fast bass notes which basically foreshadow a bad happening and then the very ending note - the high E - shows peace yet evokes tragedy of the story, and the song. And yes, I got an A on this assigment, haha.

It just amazes me, the mystery and magic and power of music - especially music that glorifies God. Music is just unbelievable and I am so thankful that God has given it to this world. Today my friends and I were playing music in this corridor under the Student Center at School, near Le Café, and this girl who was listening to us told us that we totally made her day. Those kinds of remarks kind of totally makes our day, too.

And it's just so weird how music is mostly what keeps me sane when I feel like bursting into anger, which actually happens more often than I want it to. Music slows my world down and makes me feel very restful. And again, it's music that really "got me into Christianity" in the first place.

It's also just kind of miraculous the kinds of people that I get to meet through music - at concerts, at mini performances, at gigs, at open-mic nights, at our club meetings! I've met some wonderful people through the music club... even though I personally don't think we're very organized but we are definitely trying.

Yep my boyfriend must play music lol
