I've been meaning to write about this for a while -
One of the reasons why I love music so much is that it breaks down any social barriers I may have. I feel extremely comfortable in a casual music setting - like during music club or afterwards when we're just relaxing and singing some songs together. I probably would have not felt so comfortable with all the people I've met through music club if we all haven't jammed together at one point. Honestly, I feel a bit more tense during worship practice because everyone on the worship team is extremely professional about music and the music we rehearse is to be heard to dozens of people anyways, so it has to be near perfect. However, afterwards when we take breaks, do devotions together, have potlucks, or go to this Bible study that they've started, it's very apparent that we're all comfortable together. There's just something miraculous about what happens when music brings people together.
Definitely much better than drugs and alcohol to let your walls down.
