I seriously can't believe I haven't seen this movie earlier. I remember wanting to see it when it came out, but never got around to doing so. And now, what prompted me to watch it was because of Tom Hiddleston - but also because I really just adore France and the language, too. And I absolutely love this movie - because like Owen Wilson, or Gil, sometimes I wish I could have been born into another period. But what this film points out is that we will never be satisfied with whatever we manage to accomplish or get a hold of because after that, all we'll want is more. Also this film is just filled with so much culture and beautiful people and beautiful scenery and I really do hope I can visit France soon.
But the girl of the story, Adriana, has sparked this curiosity of mine. To only fall in love with artists, musicians, and writers. The sad thing is, I don't really know anyone who falls into these categories. Most likely, I know of a few extremely talented musicians, but not personally. I just had this weird though that what if my whole life, I thought like her? Just a thought, though.
I realize that I'm a lot more okay with drinking and smoking and whatever if people are dressed a lot more nicely. Like in a formal atmosphere or context. Aha... I don't know it just seems more orderly that way and less likely for stupid things to happen or to continue happening. Which is probably why I wanted to do things like drink wine in those high-end restaurants of central Taipei, or why I want to go wine tasting at vineyards. But never inside a slumpy suburban-like house with a bunch of young adults/teens who look like they've just gotten out of class.
I also think that traveling as a couple will show them whether or not they're really good for each other. I've often heard of things like if a couple has some sort of deadlock in their marriage, one good way to get rid of it is to travel.
