meeting with 張傑

SO.

I hate plane rides. And so does my sister. So whenever we go to the airport, we look like hobos with like our sweaters and sweats and simple footwear - because we know that if we’re going to be sitting in economy class seats for 10+ hours, we’re going to need all the comfort we can get.

Sounds like a good idea, right?

NO.
NONONONONONONONO IT WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA.

WHY?!!

So my mother, sister and I had already checked in to our EVA flight for Taipei back to SFO and we were going to the next ‘station’ where security checks our carry-on luggage and makes us take off our jackets, hats, and shoes and stuff. I’m about to grab a container to put my camera bag and stuff and THEN I see this guy who really looks like 張傑 (one of my most faaavourite musicians eveeeer. I’ve had a poster of him above my piano for the longest timeeee). And so I think omg it’s probably some other guy that looks like him I saw so many in Taipei. But THEN. I notice his hat! It’s this brand called “Outer Space” and there are many times where he is performing wearing a SHIRT of the same brand - so then commences my spazzing lol. I start like panicking on deciding whether or not to ask if it’s him and I start talking really loudly and I keep glancing at him and he obviously notices so he like pulls up his jacket to partially cover his face :(

and THEN next was the station where we have to check our passports again to go into the gates. There were two lines - nonresidents and residents of Taiwan. So at this point, I was like DARNIT he’s a resident and I’m not. BUT FOR SOME REASON HE WENT INTO THE NONRESIDENT LINE. So yeah then I begin to spazz even more and like act super weird to my sister and she’s like JUST GO AND ASK here you can use my camera.

So at this point, the nonresident line had split into two more sections - a .. regular nonresident line and this APEC business card line which I must look up because that was the line that 張傑 had switched to. So I was like whewwww okay I’m gonna go ask now and I like had to squish past a few people and I tapped him on the shoulder (OMG I JUST REALIZED I TOUCHED HIM :D LOLOLOLOL) aaand here is how our [short] convo went:

me: 不好意思,先生。請問你是張傑嗎? (Excuse me, sir. Are you Chase Zhang?)
him: 是啊! (with a nod) (Yep)
me: 真的嗎?! 南拳媽媽的張傑嗎? (Really? Nan Quan Ma Ma’s Chase Zhang?)
him: 是啊! (with another nod) (Yep)
me: 我可以跟你拍個照嗎?!! (Can I take a picture with you?!!)
him: 好啊 (Sure)

AND SO THEN I like dropped my two bags like a total idiot and took out my sister’s camera and while I was doing that he was like 這裡可以嗎? (Is this place okay?) and I don’t remember what I said lol I think I replied with “yeah” and then I was like OKAY 一二三 and my hand was like shaking while attempting to take the photograph and he didn’t even smile LOL :( it’s okay he still looks cool. I look too dorkishly happy

but yeah I headed towards the America gate and he went… somewhere else… I WAS HOPING WE’D BOTH BE ON THE SAME PLANEEE but nooo :( It was good enough that I got to run into him though.

BUT YEAH. I HAD TO MEET HIM UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL FOR THE FIRST TIME

IN MY

FREAKIN

HOBO

CLOTHING

sigh. it’s okay I’m going to try to catch him again some day lol

I must also add that before my Taiwan trip I was like searching up if he had any shows but then found out that he was in China! So I was like sigh whatever then. I also didn’t want to go to that free concert in front of Taipei 101 because I knew he wasn’t famous enough to perform there lol :(
