So today, being the loser I am, checked bighugelab's scout application (link) like I do when I'm bored just to check, hopefully, if any of my photographs had gotten on Explore. And I checked it today and couldn't believe my eyes!!
One of my photos had actually gone onto Explore! And placing definitely didn't matter, it's just an incredible honor to me to have it featured on Explore on the first place! But yeah, I actually kind of tried to plan out having one of my photographs being featured on Explore. Kind of, but not really.
I knew that in order to get your photographs known, you had to get yourself known. So whenver I saw a photograph on flickr I liked, I simply commented on that photograph - because what's the use of the appreciation of photography of no one expresses their admiration for it? So that's basically what I did. ANY photograph that took even the slightest interest of mine - I made a simple remark about it. And I actually know TONS of flickr users do this. But personally, in the beginning I was actually really bored and just felt like being nice. And being nice has it's rewards haha.
SO, basically - GET YOURSELF KNOWN!:
1.) Join groups!
2.) Tag, tag, tag!
3.) Geotag your photos (which might be helpful if you're in a super cool city like London or something, but I'm not so I don't really bother because it doesn't really help me anyways haha)
4.) When you like something about a photograph, SAY IT. Or Favourite it or something x]
